Family and Friends
We participate in rendezvous, involving the historical reenactment of the fur trade era. Here we are, pictured on either end, enjoying an evening at the Forts Folle Avoine Rendezvous held annually in July.
“Buckskinning” offers a chance to relive an earlier period of American history. These pre-1840 events require participants to appear in period correct clothing, camp in primitive canvas tents, and tools used and/or displayed, including firearms, must be authentic to the time period. |

Trader's Row
At a large rendezvous you’ll find “traders row” where merchants display and sell the accoutrements of this time period. Here is our camp at a recent event. The 12’x17’ canvas wall tent on the right was our home for a week. The canvas structure to the left was our store.
We strive to make our camp appear as though we packed in equipment, supplies and canvas, then secured river birch for the uprights and poles. |
